Ricostruire le lacune: Abruzzo 2009

Chapter
Publication Date:
2017
abstract:
After a traumatic event, it immediately feels the need to return, as soon as possible, to the existing situation, whatever it was.
If this attitude can be justified on a psychological level, as swallowing a mourning after a tragedy, however it can not be justified on the cultural and operational plan at least for two reasons. The first reason relates to conservative principles in which contemporary culture is recognized, considering the work as authentic and irreproducible. The second is a more technical reason, relating the physical impossibility of reproducing the material of a damaged or destroyed work. It is possible to replicate the shape of a extensively compromised work, but with the awareness that it is producing an historic and artistic fake.
Starting from some case studies, this contribution aims to address the issue of the reconstruction of the historical building heritage as an architectural restoration theme, with regard to the reintegration of lost parts of a monument and the reconstruction of portions of an urban fabric.
