The 2009 earthquake occurred in a large area in which the specific problems of the great center of L’Aquila, the capital of Abruzzo, have been compared to the special situation of the smaller towns.
The landscape is marked by an irregular distribution of fortified architectures, often reduced to ruins because of the distance from traffic areas as well as the lack of cure and reuse.
Starting from some case studies, this paper tries to investigate the possibility of guiding the reconstruction process on the reasons of the conservation.
