During the past few decades the abandonment has become a central point for the recovery of small towns. When we talk about abandonment we also talk about abandoned architecural heritage. This contribution, by the study of Irinia landscape, seeks to explore the possibility of increase the value of small towns. The target is to give an overview of landscape in order to empower the actions on the cultural heritage linking these small realities between shared projects. It also focuses on the recovery of a small city’s district called “Trappeto” like a case study of “abandoned architectural heritage”. The district was inhabited by the rural population of the area and buildings are cave houses built starting from XV century. The project suppose a schedule of interventions that aims to recover the place and the cultural identity throught consolidation and redeployment actions with conservative and innovative interventions.
