Joseph Conrad: Rites of Passage or Writes of Passage?

Chapter
Publication Date:
2005
abstract:
Some premises regarding the title that could be useful in the development of my argument should be established. The first concerns the homophony of the words “rites” and “writes” to which could correspond a kind of homogeneity of meaning. In fact, the linguistic game revealed itself to be more subtle and, on a close reading, what became more evident was a contrast, an opposition of a very particular type. The second refers to the key concept of “rite of passage”.
