Pindar, frr. 110-109 Maehl.: a New Metric Interpretation and Some Observations on the Presence of Dochmius · This paper focuses on the metric structure of Pind. frr. 110-109 Maehl. By adopting a new metric interpretation, it is possible to achieve a more consistent and homogenous structure featuring several dochmii. Such an interpretation could contribute to proving the common misconception about the dochmius being unrelated to choral poetry. As regards frr. 110-109, it cannot be ruled out that dochmius was used with the purpose to heighten the pathos of the poem, which includes a heartfelt plea for peace to the community of Thebes, fallen prey of social tensions
