Sopra, accanto, con l’antico. Il destino della preesistenza nel restauro contemporaneo

Il contributo affronta il tema del rapporto tra antico e nuovo nel restauro dell’architettura, tentando una ricognizione storica e teorica della questione, in un arco temporale che va dagli anni del secondo dopoguerra all’attualità. Spunto della ricognizione è un ventaglio di esempi molto ampio, a scala nazionale e internazionale, utile per riflettere sul ruolo del progetto nel restauro e sulla sua centralità nel dibattito contemporaneo sul destino dell’esistente.


The contribution deals with the relationship between old and new architecture in restoration, attempting a historical and theoretical exploration of the matter, in a time span ranging from the years after World War II to today. Inspiration of the survey is a very wide range of examples, on a national and international scale, useful to reflect on the role of the restoration project and its centrality in the contemporary debate over the destination of the existing.
