Urban Sustainable Design in Pescara

The essay is the framework for a design testing program promoted by the Pescara Faculty of Architecture in cooperation with the Department of Pescara, with the participation of other European universities. The program was aimed to apply in Abruzzo region the theories of urban sustainable design (Sustainability Sensitive Urban Design) developed in the research program of the faculty. More specifically the aim was to offer to the department and municipality some concrete examples of sustainable urban projects for the regeneration of the suburbs decay.
The essay starts from the most advanced research and formulations of the European Commission, in order to define a new platform of principles and guidelines for the design inspired by the criteria of sustainability.
