Dire il falso per conoscere il vero. Aristotele, Fisica II 1, 193 a 7

Academic Article
Publication Date:
2016
abstract:
Talking about language, the Goddess said to Parmenides that men need falsehood to speak about beings; this is the starting point of Aristotle who, lacking help from the Gods, has to use the human lies to know the truth, in order to reach the divine theoria. The role of privation, as contrary of form, should be crucial to suggest the resort to a relative and accidental not-being, in order to avoid the drastic opposition between the absolute Being and Not being.
