Cultural Heritage and Archaeology for the study and dissemination of Natural, Geological, Environmental and Social events due to climate changes in antiquity: learning from the past for a better awareness in the future

Objectives: What do you want to achieve by implementing the project? The CHANGES project aims to enhance understanding of historical climate change impacts by integrating interdisciplinary and international research. It combines written, archaeological, historical, and iconographic evidence with geological and environmental analyses to compare ancient and modern environmental challenges. This approach provides unique insights into the continuity of climate issues across history. Implementation: What activities are you going to implement? The project, spanning 36 months, features six WPs: WP1 on Management and WP6 on Dissemination run throughout, while WPs 2-5 focus on scientific studies including Technologies, Geophysics/GIS, Remote Sensing, and Archaeobotany. Activities encompass fieldwork, workshops, and exchange visits, aimed at capacity building among students, researchers, and academics, fostering a collaborative exploration of historical climate change impacts. Results: What project results and other outcomes do you expect your project to have? CHANGES aims to deepen understanding of current climate phenomena by studying historical events in the Mediterranean and continental Europe, leveraging expertise in archaeology, paleobotany, remote sensing, and geophysics. Utilizing advanced technologies for analysis, it provides a comprehensive view on climate challenges, enhancing knowledge transfer, establishing best practices, and promoting intellectual gains, thus addressing modern environmental issues effectively.
