PAISAJES CULTURALES EN ARAGÓN. ESTUDIO COMPARATIVO PARA GENERAR NUEVOS MODELOS DE ANÁLISIS Y DE TRANSFERENCIA SOCIAL
Project The research project titled "Paisajes Culturales en Aragón. Estudio comparativo para generar nuevos modelos de análisis y de transferencia social" (Project Code: PID2022-139102NB-I00) represents a cutting-edge initiative in the field of cultural heritage protection, operating under the aegis of the Agencia Estatal de Investigación of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation for the 2023-2026 term. Scientific leadership is provided by Professor Ascensión Hernández Martínez (DNI 25142898B), Professor of Conservation and Restoration of Artistic Heritage at the University of Zaragoza and Director of the Arts Area at the IPH. The project aims to transcend the limitations of traditional sectoral analysis by applying an interdisciplinary methodology that interprets Aragonese Cultural Landscapes (PCA) not merely as objects of conservation, but as dynamic agents of social and economic development. The research is structured around the critical analysis of four emblematic sites, selected for their typological and symbolic significance: the pastoral landscape of Bestué, the electro-mining complex of Aliaga, the historical architecture of Uncastillo, and the transboundary dimension of the upper Aragón River valley.
As the coordinator of the Research Unit at the "G. d'Annunzio" University of Chieti-Pescara, my role is central to defining a methodological framework that integrates an international comparative dimension, which is essential for validating the new analytical models proposed by the project. The contribution of the Chieti-Pescara Unit focuses on conducting a rigorous comparative study that bridges the Aragonese reality with similar Italian contexts, chosen for their shared morphological characteristics, historical backgrounds, and management challenges. This comparative approach goes beyond the mere observation of regulatory differences, aiming instead to generate an operational synthesis capable of influencing heritage protection policies and social transfer. The ultimate objective is to foster a genuine identification of local communities with their territory while ensuring greater intellectual and physical accessibility to cultural heritage. Through this scientific synergy, the Chieti-Pescara Unit actively collaborates in creating territorial governance tools that promote sustainability and social cohesion, transforming the landscape into a permanent laboratory for cultural and civic innovation.
