ODA4C - SYSTEMATIC PATHOLOGY 2

To learn basic physio-pathological and clinical notions of the main diseases of the respiratory, renal, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular and immune systems.
At the end of the course, students will be able to apply the knowledge acquired to solve problems, perform clinical tasks, and interpret data in real or simulated settings. They will be able to collect and critically evaluate data, hypotheses, and clinical scenarios, and formulate informed judgments, even when faced with limited, incomplete, or complex information. Students will also be able to communicate knowledge, information, problems, and solutions effectively to both specialist and non-specialist audiences in a variety of contexts. Finally, they will have developed the ability to learn independently, keep their knowledge up to date, and address new or complex topics and problems throughout their professional careers.

Dublin Descriptor 1 – Knowledge and understanding. Understand the principles of general and system-specific clinical examination, the significance of major symptoms and signs, essential laboratory investigations and the clinical manifestations of the organ failure conditions included in the programme.
Dublin Descriptor 2 – Applying knowledge and understanding. Collect and interpret clinical information, formulate initial diagnostic hypotheses and differential diagnoses, and select relevant investigations.
Dublin Descriptor 3 – Making judgements. Assess the relevance of findings, recognise warning signs and establish priorities for further clinical assessment.
Dublin Descriptor 4 – Communication skills. Present a clinical problem clearly and systematically, use appropriate terminology and explain the proposed approach.
Dublin Descriptor 5 – Learning skills. Use teaching materials and scientific sources to deepen and update knowledge independently.
