Course Objectives

This course module aims to contribute to students’ educational development by providing fundamental concepts that are useful for economic and business decision-making. In particular, the educational objectives of the module are associated with the following intended learning outcomes:

Knowledge and Understanding
The course aims to provide students with the fundamental methodological and applied knowledge of statistical methods and index numbers. In addition, it introduces useful tools for the analysis of selected types of tourism data.

Applying Knowledge and Understanding

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to interpret tourism data and tourism-related index numbers, supported by the analysis of real-world case studies. The knowledge acquired will enable them to critically interpret economic dynamics and draw evidence-based conclusions.

Course Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of statistics is required.

Teaching Methods

Lectures, case studies, and practical exercises based on real-world data.

Assessment Methods

Knowledge and Understanding
The assessment of learning outcomes will be carried out through a written examination and an oral examination. The written examination will cover the entire course syllabus.
The oral examination is optional and consists of questions aimed at further exploring the topics covered in the course. It may be requested either by the instructor or by the student.
The final grade, expressed on a scale of 30 points, will take into account the results of the written examination and the outcome of the oral examination, where applicable.

Applying Knowledge and Understanding
Through the examination process, the Professor will assess students’ ability to apply basic statistical knowledge and tools to real-world problems in the tourism sector.
