Course Objectives

The course Clinical Dentistry II aims to consolidate and integrate the clinical competencies acquired throughout the educational program, enabling students to achieve an appropriate level of operational autonomy in the management of dental patients, including cases of moderate to high complexity. The course focuses on strengthening students’ ability to assess and manage complex clinical cases through an integrated and multidisciplinary approach. It promotes the development of advanced diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic skills across the various fields of dentistry, while fostering the integration of theoretical knowledge with clinical practice involving the entire stomatognathic system. Particular emphasis is placed on the progressive achievement of autonomy in performing clinical procedures previously acquired during earlier courses and clinical training. By the end of the course, students will be able to perform a comprehensive clinical evaluation of the patient by integrating medical history, clinical findings, and instrumental data. They will be able to establish an accurate diagnosis and develop a rational, multidisciplinary treatment plan based on principles of clinical appropriateness. Furthermore, students will be capable of performing clinical procedures in cases of moderate to high complexity, recognizing and managing the main clinical complications, and applying the principles of Evidence-Based Dentistry in therapeutic decision-making. They will also operate in compliance with safety standards, proper clinical documentation, and ethical and professional principles.
