Course Objectives

The aim of the course is to deepen the knowledge of the languages of architectural design and of the relationships that representation generates with the creative expression of the project and with digital techno-cultures, with the experimentation of the most advanced techniques of digital representation of architecture and of contemporary hypermedia languages, of parametric design and BIM.

Course Prerequisites

The required prerequisite constraints are the completion of the Descriptive Geometry, Architectural Surveying, and Architectural Drawing exams.

Teaching Methods

The single subject course held by Professors Maurizio Unali (6 cfu) and Giovanni Caffio (2 cfu) consists of a series of ex cathedra lessons, with the active participation of the students in the form of debates, and a series of graphic exercises in the classroom and at home, to be carried out individually or in groups of two students. These exercises will be related to the theme chosen for the thesis.

Assessment Methods

The oral test consists of a discussion lasting about 20 minutes in which the candidate presents the graphic works produced; the teacher asks questions related to theoretical aspects of the topics covered in the course and reported in the detailed program of the course. The test, as a whole, is aimed at ascertaining the levels of theoretical and graphic maturity reached by the student. It also allows to verify the communication skills of the student, who is asked to express himself with language property, as well as the ability to apply the acquired competences to architectural and urban design and restoration. The final grade of the exam will be expressed in thirtieths, considering the evaluations obtained in the graphic part and in the oral exam.
