Course Objectives


"The module, in compliance with the provisions of the Teaching Regulations in article no. 3 "Specific training objectives and expected skills", provides the student with the tools necessary to identify the nursing care needs of the individual, his family and the community in the context of home and territorial care, developing the most suitable PDTA and care plans to support the person's residual capacities and promote adaptation to the limitations and alterations produced by the disease. EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES (LEARNING OUTCOMES): Knowledge and understanding: at the end of the module the student will be able to acquire tools for sociological understanding of the nurse's functions and activities: from disease prevention/health promotion to patient care, from the patient's behavior to the problems that the treatment of the disease entails in a holistic perspective that includes family, caregiver, community and care system; understand the concept of Family/Community Nursing and its areas of intervention and organizational models; Ability to apply knowledge and understanding (Applying knowledge and understanding): at the end of the module, the student: identifies the most suitable care process, starting from the assessment of the needs and vulnerabilities of patients, for the construction of an individual care project; manages nursing care in chronic and disabled patients present in the area; takes action, in collaboration with other professionals, for the discharge of the patient in the area, explaining to the user and the family the institutions present in the area and their usefulness; develops educational projects with the person and the family to develop self-care skills and problem management. Autonomy of judgment (Making Judgements): The student will be able to make care decisions, based on a careful identification of needs, critically evaluating the outcomes of the choices made; he/she will also be able to contribute to the essential aspects of nursing relevance for a multidisciplinary assessment from the perspective of Family/Community Nursing and apply the knowledge learned regarding case management Communication skills (Communication skills): the student will be able to communicate effectively with the members of the healthcare team and with users, modulating his/her language according to the interlocutor's understanding skills. Learning skills: He/she will be able to search for information independently and in collaboration, to resolve problems related to clinical practice by drawing information from the best scientific evidence available, through the critical selection of primary and secondary sources.

Course Prerequisites


Understanding the discipline requires sufficient knowledge of: anatomy and physiology, respiratory and cardiocirculatory physiopathology, medical pathology and general pathology, aseptic procedures and CDC guidelines on hand washing, regulations on risk management, knowledge of basic nursing care. To be eligible for the exam, the student must have attended 70% of the lectures of the Integrated Course in Community and Prevention Nursing Sciences and must have taken and passed all the exams of the first semester of the 3rd year of the course, as required by the study plan

Teaching Methods


The module, which is mandatory to attend, includes frontal lessons. The teacher will adopt a teaching style based on the presentation of problems prefiguring situations of professional life, such as to stimulate the interest of the students for the topics of the course and encourage the application of knowledge in real clinical contexts

Assessment Methods


The learning assessment is based on an oral exam. The evaluation is in thirtieths, the exam is passed if the evaluation is equal to or greater than eighteen thirtieths (18/30). In determining the order in which students must be examined, the specific needs of working students will be taken into particular account. The evaluation of insufficiency is not accompanied by a grade. The publicity of the exam tests is ensured. For the evaluation of the oral interview, the following indicators and descriptors will be taken into account: INDICATORS: relevance and correctness DESCRIPTORS: Complete: 30, In-depth: 29 - 27, Fair although with some gaps: 26 - 24, Fully sufficient: 23 - 21, Just sufficient with evident deficiencies: 20 - 18 INDICATORS: breadth and coherence DESCRIPTORS: Rigorous and documented, highlighting the ability to use the knowledge acquired and connect it in the argument: 30, Precise and detailed: 29 - 27, Adequate: 26 - 24, Fully sufficient: 23 - 21, Just sufficient: 20 - 18 INDICATORS: Expressive correctness, use of scientific language, communication skills DESCRIPTORS: Refined and original: 30, Clear, fluent and correct: 29 -27, Fair: 26 - 24, Sufficient: 23 - 21, Not fully adequate: 20 -18. To pass the exam, a grade of at least 18/30 is required. To obtain a grade of 30/30 with honors, the student must demonstrate that he or she has acquired excellent knowledge of all the topics covered during the course, being able to connect them in a logical and coherent way.
