Course Objectives


EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES The teaching of the subject provides the student with the scientific and technical basis for the care and monitoring of patients undergoing anesthesia during surgical operations and in an intensive environment through full awareness of the healthcare and therapeutic needs of this type of patient. EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES Knowledge and understanding At the end of the module the student will be able to understand the mechanisms underlying the main anesthesia and analgesia techniques in the various specialties, the physiopathological basis of resuscitation-related pathologies. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding Through the application of the knowledge of the module and the other modules of the integrated course, the student will be able to manage the clinical and therapeutic aspects in a specific field. Transversal skills -Autonomy of judgment: The student will be able to make healthcare decisions and correctly apply the doctor's indications. -Communication skills The student will be able to adopt effective communication patterns with the team's specialists and with users. -Ability to learn The student will be able to process, through the analysis of bibliographic and clinical sources, the information necessary to guarantee the highest level of care.

Course Prerequisites


Understanding the module requires in-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pharmacology and having passed the exams set out in the study plan for the second year of the course.

Teaching Methods


The teaching course is carried out through frontal lessons with Power Point material. Furthermore, during the course clinical cases are simulated in order to have practical knowledge of the situations to be managed.

Assessment Methods


Learning is assessed, as part of the integrated course, through an oral test lasting approximately 15 minutes, or alternatively through the resolution of multiple choice quizzes, during which the level of preparation and knowledge achieved by the student will be analysed. student. The test will be passed if the student achieves a rating of greater than 18/30 in all modules of the integrated course.

Contents


Know and have full awareness of patient management in the Operating Room and Resuscitation settings. In particular, understand the basics of general and local anesthesia through knowledge of the pharmacology of the molecules used and the physiology of the central and peripheral nervous system. Have basic knowledge of pharmacology and intra- and post-operative monitoring and therapy procedures. In intensive care, know the most relevant aspects of pathologies that require an intensive approach
