Course Objectives


"The module, in compliance with the provisions of the Teaching Regulations in article no. 3 "Specific training objectives and expected skills", provides the student with the tools necessary to identify the nursing care needs, in the psychiatric and neurological field, of the individual, his family and the community, from which to develop the most suitable care plans, paying particular attention to the planning, management and evaluation of preventive and rehabilitative interventions. EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES (LEARNING OUTCOMES): Knowledge and understanding: at the end of the module the student will be able to know the relational, communicative, regulatory-organizational and nursing-care aspects, relating to the area of ​​mental and neurological health, with particular attention to the care process and the nursing plan, resulting from the available evidence; will be able to describe the historical evolution of theoretical models, laws and the organization of psychiatric care. Ability to apply knowledge ... understanding): the module enables the student to apply knowledge in planning, with implementation and critical evaluation of nursing interventions, in any healthcare setting; makes the student capable of managing clinical-care situations in the phase of decompensation and compensation, in the different degrees and phases of psychiatric and neurological pathologies; the student is able to activate and involve the patient's socio-affective network in the care project, also through therapeutic education and rehabilitation programs. Autonomy of judgment (Making Judgements): The student will be able to make healthcare decisions, based on a careful identification of needs, critically evaluating the outcomes of the choices made. Communication skills (Communication skills): the student will be able to communicate effectively with members of the healthcare team and with users, modulating his language based on the interlocutor's understanding skills. Learning skills (Learning skills): The student will be able to search for information independently and in collaboration, for the resolution of problems inherent to clinical practice by drawing on information from the best available scientific evidence, through the critical selection of primary and secondary sources

Course Prerequisites


Understanding the module requires the necessary and in-depth knowledge of the nursing process and the care plan and related to biomedical sciences for the understanding of physiological processes connected to the state of health and illness of the person; to be able to access the exam, the student must have attended 70% of the lectures of the Integrated Course of Nursing Sciences in the neurological and mental health area and must have passed all the exams of the 2nd year of the course, as required by the study plan.

Teaching Methods


The module, which is mandatory to attend, includes frontal lessons. The teacher will adopt a teaching style based on the presentation of problems prefiguring situations of professional life, such as to stimulate the interest of the students for the topics of the course and encourage the application of knowledge in real clinical contexts

Assessment Methods


The learning assessment is based on an oral exam. The evaluation is in thirtieths, the exam is passed if the evaluation is equal to or greater than eighteen thirtieths (18/30). In determining the order in which students must be examined, the specific needs of working students will be taken into particular account. The evaluation of insufficiency is not accompanied by a grade. The publicity of the exam tests is ensured. For the evaluation of the oral interview, the following indicators and descriptors will be taken into account: INDICATORS: relevance and correctness DESCRIPTORS: Complete: 30, In-depth: 29 - 27, Fair although with some gaps: 26 - 24, Fully sufficient: 23 - 21, Just sufficient with evident deficiencies: 20 - 18 INDICATORS: breadth and coherence DESCRIPTORS: Rigorous and documented, highlighting the ability to use the knowledge acquired and connect it in the argument: 30, Precise and detailed: 29 - 27, Adequate: 26 - 24, Fully sufficient: 23 - 21, Just sufficient: 20 - 18 INDICATORS: Expressive correctness, use of scientific language, communication skills DESCRIPTORS: Refined and original: 30, Clear, fluent and correct: 29 -27, Fair: 26 - 24, Sufficient: 23 - 21, Not fully adequate: 20 -18. To pass the exam, a grade of at least 18/30 is required. To obtain a grade of 30/30 with honors, the student must demonstrate that he or she has acquired excellent knowledge of all the topics covered during the course, being able to connect them in a logical and coherent way.
