Syllabus

Course Objectives


The course contributes to the achievement of the educational objectives of the degree programme in LANGUAGE MEDIATION AND INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION (L/12).
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: the course aims to enable students to understand the content of the fundamental rules of international law and the related terminology and technical tools, while providing them with the tools they need to acquire the correct methodology for studying the subject.
At the end of the course, students will be able to understand the structure of the international legal system, the principles and acts of international law.
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: this knowledge will enable students to apply international law in their potential careers.

Teaching Methods


Classroom lessons: the course is structured in 36 hours of lessons divided into 2 weekly lessons lasting 2 hours each.
Teaching consists of theoretical lessons.
Seminars: learning assessments may be offered to students to assess their learning and understanding of the topics covered, to be carried out in the classroom, based on a number of practical cases that will be discussed during the lessons.
Attendance at classes is optional but recommended.

Assessment Methods


The final exam is oral. The exam is the same for both attending and non-attending students.
The grade is out of thirty.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
a) KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: describe the history, structure, principles, acts and their application relating to international law; analyse the fundamental aspects of international law acts; illustrate the interaction between international law and domestic law.

b) ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: independent judgement; ability to connect institutional and substantive aspects of international law.
