Course Objectives

Adequate knowledge of Western art from the second Half of the 18th Century to the 1970s: from the cultural mood of Neoclassicism to Conceptual Art. Knowledge of the different methodological approaches and themes of primary interest in the discipline.

Course Prerequisites

A strong interest in Art History is needed

Teaching Methods

Classroom lectures with powerpoint projections, seminars, in-depth exploration, tests and visits to museums and exhibitions of importance.

Assessment Methods

Oral exam with marks out of 30, aimed at verifying the ability to expose the topics presented during the course with clarity and autonomy of judgment.

For non-attending students, in addition to the texts in the program (for 6 or 12 CFUs) and recommended by the teacher to students on a case-by-case basis to make good the gaps inevitably caused by failure to attend lectures, one of the following books: - H. History of Western art from 1750 to 1970. In-depth analysis of Neoclassical art, 19th Century Italian Art (Romanticism, "Macchiaioli", Realism, Divisionism), Futurism, "Ritorno all'ordine".
