Course Objectives

OSAS is a disease of multidisciplinary interest that requires coordinated diagnostic and therapeutic actions among different specialists in order to guarantee an optimal and complete intervention for people of all ages.A very large proportion of the general population goes to the dentist at least once a year for checkups, professional oral hygiene or to perform therapies. This is why dentists are able to intercept early signs and symptoms of this problem. At the same time, they can evaluate whether the patient has the indications to be treated with specific oral devices (Oral Appliances, OA). It is important that the dentist knows and shares with the patient the different therapeutic approaches to the OSAS, such as medical therapy, the use of overnight air supply with positive pressure (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure, CPAP) and the surgical therapy of oropharyngeal tissues or repositioning of the maxillary bones.
