Course Objectives

The course aims to deepen the knowledge of the main dental materials and to correlate their chemical-physical properties with their clinical applications in order to develop in students a critical ability to evaluate the choice of the most appropriate material in daily dental practice.

Course Prerequisites

Knowledge of basic physics, chemistry, and biology. Basic knowledge of dental materials and their indications for use.

Teaching Methods

The training consists of 50 hours of activities. The activity is performed in part in the classroom laboratories where students, under the supervision of the tutors, will see and use the dental materials.

Assessment Methods

The verification of the acquired knowledge will take place during exam of dental materials.

Notes taken from lectures and training.

At the end of the training the student must be able to properly assess the impression materials, waxes, composite, light-curing lamps, resins, materials for dental prostheses and digital systems. The precautions in the handling and the precautions by using on the patients of materials and biomaterials.
