Course Objectives

The aim of the course is to understand the conceptual and technical aspects underlying the functioning and management of digital information, through the personal computer and the application software in a local and network context. The characterization of the course is humanistic / digital, aimed at acquiring mastery of the IT tools relevant to the treatment of cultural content, as well as the knowledge of the legal aspects relating to the ITC related to the training and sharing of digital content. The international correspondent in the area of training and research pertains to the "Digital Humanities", as an interdisciplinary sector able to combine the analysis and application of digital methods with a specific social and professional context of reference.

Course Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites. For successful learning, the minimum familiarity with the digital environment for daily use is already considered acquired.

Teaching Methods

Lectures, simulations and practical exercises in the computer lab. Slides and practical demonstrations are offered during lessons. During the course, seminars may be proposed on specific topics which, due to their relevance, suggest useful reflections to understand the subject.

Assessment Methods

Written exam by means of digital tools, with judgment of suitability pertaining to the practical test carried out in the laboratory. The exam covers the theoretical and practical elements addressed in the course and the judgment pertains to the student's concrete way of creating / managing digital data, aiming to verify the mastery of the subject and the methods acquired.

Texts

The teaching material is made available by the teacher in the "teaching materials" section of the University portal. Additional material and indications and topics for further study are provided during the lessons.

Contents

The course is aimed at training the student through the acquisition of a general interdisciplinary "digital awareness", in relation to a personal social and professional context of reference. The acquisition of the knowledge and practical features of the subject matter pertain to information theory and digital communication - to the coding, creation and management of digital data - to ICT elements (software and hardware) - to the principles of operation and use of the SO and of the SAs - to the networks and the Web applications - to the elements of IT law - to the legal protection of the creation, use and transmission of digital data. The path then follows the "Digital Humanities", as a method of understanding and applying digital methods in different areas of productivity and individual interest, or "ratione materiae". A "critical" and conscious approach, as well as the knowledge of systems, methods and infrastructures develop "computational thinking" as a general working method.

Course Language

Italian and specialized English.

More information
