The course aims to develop knowledge of the postural system as an integration of biomechanical, neurosensory, and functional components.
Students will acquire skills in observation, functional assessment, use of technological tools, and pedagogical approaches to movement education and body awareness.

Course Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics.

Teaching Methods

Synchronous online lectures, guided practical exercises, case study analysis, use of postural assessment tools (including digital support), interactive discussions aimed at developing clinical reasoning.

Assessment Methods

Oral examination assessing theoretical knowledge and practical application skills.

Texts

Myers T.W., Anatomy Trains, Elsevier
Shumway-Cook A., Woollacott M., Motor Control, Lippincott
Kendall F.P., Muscles: Testing and Function, Lippincott
Selected scientific papers provided by the lecturer

Contents

The course analyzes posture as an integrated system, focusing on the interaction between sensory receptors (visual, vestibular, podal, stomatognathic), muscular chains, and fascial system. It includes principles of pedagogy applied to movement, body schema development, motor control, and body perception.
Functional and instrumental assessment methods are addressed through advanced technologies (3D body analysis, baropodometry) and clinical tests.
The course also introduces the concept of body frequencies as a regulatory element of the postural system.
