Syllabus

Course Objectives

The teaching is part of the general objective of the course of study, with the aim of providing the knowledge inherent to the multiple business structures and their functioning, based on the markets and the historical development of world economic systems. Particular attention is paid to the study of the entrepreneur and the management decision-making process. EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING At the end of the course, the student must be able to: - recognize the dynamics of the formation of business systems in relation to the peculiarities of the historical periods considered; - understand the links between forms of business and the market; - understand the relationships between strategy and structure. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING At the end of the course the student will be able to: - identify the relationship between economic systems and business evolution; - identify the form of market in which the company operates in the relationship between strategy and structure - consult the various databases to plan a growth path for the company MAKING JUDGMENT At the end of the course the student will be able to: - -acquire methodologies and conceptual tools useful for developing analyzes and interpretations of phenomena related to business development - Select the appropriate databases to deepen the research; COMMUNICATION SKILLS At the end of the course the student will be able to: - use appropriate terminology in reference to business phenomena; - illustrate and comment with a critical spirit on the different economic contexts in which business systems have developed; - expose and comment on the major theories on the growth and decline of businesses; LEARNING SKILLS At the end of the course, the student develops a study capacity suitable for analyzing the critical issues of business development in a medium and long-term historical perspective.

Teaching Methods

The course includes 48 hours of teaching provided in the classroom by the teacher with interventions by business experts who will bear witness to their experience. Attendance is optional, but recommended.

Assessment Methods

Type of exam: Oral interview. Learning verification methods: The assessment of learning will be carried out through an oral test consisting of questions aimed at verifying the knowledge of the reference material, the ability to understand, the autonomy of judgment and the appropriateness of the language used. The oral exam will be evaluated with a score expressed out of thirty. Assessment: Mark out of thirty on a scale from 0 to 30 a) 0-17: failure to pass the exam: insufficient preparation. b) from 18 to 21: sufficient preparation in relation to learning the main foundations of business history and the historical dynamics of the evolution of business systems. Sufficient ability to identify the factors underlying entrepreneurial development and the relationship between the diffusion of well-being and the presence of large corporations. Sufficient autonomy of critical judgment and ability to use the economic vocabulary. c) From 22 to 24: fully sufficient preparation in relation to learning the main foundations of business history and the historical dynamics of the evolution of business systems. The ability to identify the factors underlying entrepreneurial development and the relationship between the diffusion of well-being and the presence of large corporations is fully sufficient. The autonomy of critical judgment and the ability to use the economic lexicon are fully sufficient. d) From 25 to 26: good preparation in relation to learning the main foundations of business history and the historical dynamics of the evolution of business systems. Good ability to identify the factors underlying entrepreneurial development and the relationship between the diffusion of well-being and the presence of large corporations. Good autonomy of critical judgment and ability to use the economic vocabulary. e) From 27 to 29: very good preparation in relation to learning the main foundations of business history and the historical dynamics of the evolution of business systems. Very good ability to identify the factors underlying entrepreneurial development and the relationship between the diffusion of well-being and the presence of large corporations. Very good autonomy of critical judgment and the ability to use the economic vocabulary. f) From 30 to 30 cum laude: excellent/excellent preparation in relation to learning the main foundations of business history and the historical dynamics of the evolution of business systems. Excellent/excellent ability to identify the factors underlying entrepreneurial development and the relationship between the diffusion of well-being and the presence of large corporations. Excellent/excellent autonomy of critical judgment and the ability to use the economic vocabulary.

Contents

The course focuses on the study of economic theories based on the concept of entrepreneur and business; particular attention is paid to the evolution of industrial enterprise over the last two centuries. It is a long-term perspective that emphasizes continuities and changes, technological change and socio-institutional transformations, elements that have a strong impact on the strategies and structures of the actors considered.
