Course Objectives


The program is alligend with the objectives of the master's degree course in Economics and Finance of Firms and Ecosystems, offering students the knowledge bases relating to the main theories on innovation and the practical tools for managing change and innovation processes within organizations.
At the end of the course, the student's training will be enriched by the following skills:
Knowledge and understanding:
- know the main approaches and tools for analyzing the sources, typologies and dynamics of innovation;
- understand the methods of management and organization of innovation, as well as its operating principles;
- develop and implement innovation strategies within organizations;
Making judgments:
- systemically process complex and/or fragmented information and arrive at organizational planning solutions;
Communication skills:
- Communicate in a clear, logical and effective way using the methodological tools acquired and the innovation manager’s own language.

Seminar, lectures, case-studies.

Assessment Methods


The exam includes passing an interview aimed at verifying the level of learning of the above training objectives.
The examination must include the study of the textbook and the contents of the work carried out in the classroom (in-depth study of the case studies and discussions proposed by the teacher). The following evaluation criteria are applied in the formulation of the final judgment:
Failure to pass the exam: the candidate does not achieve any of the expected learning outcomes;
From 18 to 21: Sufficient level;
From 22 to 24: Abundantly sufficient level;
From 25 to 26: Good level;
From 27 to 29: Very good level;
From 30 to 30 cum laude: Excellent level. The candidate fully achieves all the expected learning outcomes.

Contents


The course intends to provide students with cognitive elements on the role of innovation and knowledge management in the field of social science and organizational studies.
Specifically, the main topics that will be covered are:
i) the management of creativity and collaborative networks;
ii) the forms of innovation and the technological curves/cycles;
iii) the different strategic orientations and approaches to innovation;
iv) the organization of innovation processes and new product/service development teams;
v) organizational ecosystems and the open innovation paradigm.
