Course Objectives


The course aims to provide students with a theoretical, methodological and applicative knowledge of:- organizational problems related to different business contexts- the models and tools necessary to carry out managerial, professional, and consultancy analyses and Organizational Assessment interventions.Furthermore, the teaching aims to encourage students in:- the development of independent judgment in the analysis of organizational problems and Organizational Assessment solutions;- the development of the ability to understand the needs for change in the organization of work and the planning of business organizational forms;- the possibility of experimenting with the acquired knowledge in a professional and consultancy manner

Teaching Methods


The course will be organized with participatory lessons, discussions, individual and group exercises, scientific readings (using critical evaluation techniques), and problem-solving of company case studies (national and international).In particular, teaching is based on the following structure:- Participatory lessons aimed at improving students' knowledge and understanding through the exposure of theories, conceptual models, and managerial tools of Organizational Assessment; students are invited to participate in discussion with independent judgment, expressing ideas, formulating questions, presenting examples;- Company testimonials: entrepreneurs and managers are invited to participate as guest speakers in the lesson to explore, thanks to their entrepreneurial and professional experiences, specific course topics, and by presenting a company Case History.- Case studies: students are divided into groups and face a case study in the form of a text delivered by the teacher and videos available online, in which some "critical" situations illustrating the topics covered by the course are illustrated;-Company visits: visits to the factories of some specific organizations in the area will be organized for students with the highest number of frequencies to gain direct experience in the field- Project work: attending students will measure themselves with a group project work; attending students will experiment in a group in project work, analyzing actual companies with the dual purpose of directly experimenting with the working group method (with the further aim of contributing to increasing their transversal skills), and to develop the critical ability required in applying the theoretical contents learned to the company reality.The result of the work will be presented in the classroom to develop communication skills. - Individual study: students are recommended some textbooks, videos available online, and company websites functional to the development of autonomous learning skills- Scientific readings: students are offered scientific readings to develop critical evaluation techniques

Assessment Methods


Students who have followed at least 75% of the course will be considered "attending."Intermediate learning assessments are provided for attending students. More precisely, the verification of the student's preparation will take place in two moments:a) presentation of the results of the project work;b) final written and oral assessment test.The score obtained with the group project work will be added in absolute value to the result obtained in the final written/oral exam.Non-attending students will be evaluated exclusively based on the final oral exam.The relevance of the answers to the questions asked, the quality of the contents, the ability to make connections with other topics covered by the program, the ability to report examples, the ownership of technical language, and the overall expressive ability of the student will contribute to the evaluation of the oral interview.Erasmus students will be able to choose to take the exam in English.

Contents


The Business Organization course, which lasts 72 hours of teaching for a total of 9 credits, aims at addressing the issues of organizational design and analysis considering the perspectives of the different actors - individual, group, company, and network - for structure and coordination. Particular attention is also paid to organizational theories of interpretation of organizational forms.
