Course Objectives

The general objective of the course is to provide students with the basic economic tools indispensable to analyze the ratio, the means, and the effects of a selection of economic policies.
Knowledge and understanding
The course contributes to the Degree in Economia and Commercio by providing economic skills and knowledge useful to acquire the ability to critically analyze the main tools of economic policy, so as to be able to understand the institutional and policy framework of economic systems. The contents of the course are complementary to the relevant economic policy topics addressed in the Macroeconomics, Public Economics, and Monetary Economics courses, so as to provide a complete overview of the most relevant policy issues. The competences acquired contribute to making the graduate in Economia e Commercio able to use the analytical tools to interpret the overall dynamics of economic systems. They contribute to enabling the graduate both to work in intermediate managerial and consultancy contexts and to pursue further studies.
Critical thinking
Particular attention will be devoted to the practical application of the main economic concepts illustrated, to stimulate the ability to apply the acquired knowledge in real contexts with a higher degree of complexity than textbook examples and a critical spirit. Moreover, the tools needed to read and interpret relevant economic data will be provided.
