Syllabus

Course Objectives


Knowledge of the methods and tools of Geomorphology for a correct management of the main environmental and planning issues. Knowledge of the principles of the geomorphological survey and of the cartographic mapping of the landforms. Ability to identify the landforms and geomorphological units of the landscape through field analysis and observations. Ability to draw up geomorphological and geothematic maps. Knowledge and ability to use GIS software for the maps production and creation of geomorphological databases.

Course Prerequisites


Detailed knowledge of geomorphology and geological survey.

Teaching Methods


Frontal lessons, field trip and exercises and field camp for the realization of large-scale geomorphological maps. Laboratory and computer lab exercises for GIS mapping

Assessment Methods


The exam consists of a written test and an oral test.
Oral exam: It will verify the knowledge of criteria, tools and methods of geomorphological mapping also according to national and international guidelines. The achievement skills in setting and carrying out a geomorphological survey and in the elaboration of the geomorphological mapping will also be verified.
Written test: Written essay and geomorphological map realized during the filed camp. Geomorphological reports and maps produced during daily field trip. All the geomorphological elements surveyed during the field activities must be mapped and described according to the appropriate legends and methodology acquired during the course, demonstrating the ability of applying knowledge and understanding.
The vote is expressed in thirtieths. The oral exam is worth 40% of the exam and the written exam is 60%.
