Syllabus

Course Objectives


The Advanced design module aims to:

Introduce the methods and digital techniques of advanced representation for Design;
To approach the evolved processes of Design process through the new digital tools;
Acquire the skills to elaborate 2D project tables (representation conventions, standards, dimensions, types of documents);
Develop advanced digital skills for three-dimensional modeling and rendering in the field of product design;
Use the main software for modeling, rendering and three-dimensional vector graphics;
Know the techniques of rapid prototyping and 3D printing.

Course Prerequisites


You cannot take the Advanced design exam if you have not passed the Drawing for design exam.

Teaching Methods


The course is organized in:

Frontal contributions offered by the teacher (lectures / presentations);
Group exercises with ongoing assessments;
Collective reviews and punctual meetings (presentations and collective discussions / direct reviews).

Assessment Methods


The course includes ongoing assessments relating to the assigned project research (individual).
The exam will be aimed at ascertaining knowledge of the topics covered during the course (listed in the extended program), at assessing the ability to critically discuss the design work carried out in the exercises and the quality of the final outcome.
The exercises during the course are applied to a specific design theme.

The Advanced design course provides the theoretical-methodological knowledge and the technical-practical skills to develop an advanced design process with the use of digital tools for modeling, rendering, rapid prototyping and 3D printing in the areas of product design.
