Syllabus

Course Objectives


Progressive anatomical-physiological learning of the organs and systems involved in breathing, phonation and swallowing and clinical-diagnostic-therapeutic learning of the pathologies related to them. The otolaryngology, phoniatric and speech therapy approaches and skills will be discussed and the collaboration and interdependence of the three professional figures, Otolaryngologist, Phoniatrist and Speech therapist, for the planning of surgical and/or rehabilitative treatment in voice pathologies will be analyzed and stigmatized.

Course Prerequisites


Knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the organs appointed of respiration, phonation and swallowing, which will be further expanded and deepened during the course.

Frontal lessons.

Examination by oral test.

The course involves the progressive learning of knowledge relating to the training of the figure of the speech therapist starting from the anatomical structures involved in phonation and the physiology of communication. The next step allows the student to acquire the diagnostic progression of functional and organic pathologies of the communication apparatus starting from semiotics continuing with the clinical aspects and finally analyzing the instrumental methods that allow orientation in the broad spectrum of voice and language disorders. All pathologies of phoniatric-logopedic interest are analyzed individually with the related diagnostic-therapeutic path and with the various medical-surgical treatment approaches, also introducing phono-logopedic rehabilitation ones.
