Syllabus

Course Objectives


Acquire knowledge relating to the nutritional status of pregnancy/newborn/infant/physiological or high-risk pediatric patient


Course Prerequisites


As expected from academic regulation


Teaching Methods


The teaching is structured in 40 hours of frontal teaching, divided into lessons of 2 or 3 hours according to the academic calendar.

The frontal teaching consists of theoretical lessons and seminars held by experts on the topics covered as well as video projections, discussion of clinical cases with the division of learners into working groups with the PBL method (problem based learning).

Attendance is expected for at least 75% of the teaching activity.


Assessment Methods


The verification of the students' preparation will take place through an oral test aimed at ascertaining the successful learning, conceptual mastery, language properties as well as the ability to interpret and summarize the acquired medical knowledge.

The evaluation will be expressed through marks out of thirty.

Contents


The program is mainly centered on the treatment of the Perinatal and Pediatric anamnesis;

communication with the patient;

The main pregnancy pathologies (diabetes, hypertension and intrauterine growth retardation) and nutritional programme;

Macro/micronutrient intakes in the pregnant, the newborn and in the patient. pediatric;

The critical infant, minimal-full enteral feeding;

Total parenteral nutrition
