Course Objectives


The teaching of Obstetrics and Gynecology contributes to the achievement of the educational objective of the Degree Course in Nursing Sciences, providing students with the notions of pathophysiology and clinics of the main pathologies of the female genital sphere, reproductive function and pregnancy. In these areas the student must acquire knowledge of the diagnostic techniques necessary for the correct clinical classification of the patient with gynecological or obstetric problems. The student must also know the medical and surgical therapies to be used in the treatment of the aforementioned pathologies. With regard to the obstetric part, the objectives are to provide knowledge relating to physiological pregnancy, etiopathogenesis, physiopathology and the clinic of the various pathologies that can arise in pregnancy, during labor and delivery and during the puerperium.

Prerequisite constraints as per the Teaching Regulations.

Teaching Methods


The teaching is structured in 15 hours of frontal teaching, divided into lessons of 2 or 3 hours according to the academic calendar.

Assessment Methods


Oral exam. Written test with multiple choice quiz. The assessment will be expressed by a vote out of thirty.

Contents


As far as gynecology is concerned, notions of anatomy and physiology of the female genital apparatus will be taken up again and the clinical and instrumental diagnostic techniques in gynecology will then be treated. Subsequently, topics of gynecological endocrinology, infertility, pathology of the pelvic floor and benign and malignant pathology of the female genital system will be covered. As far as obstetrics is concerned, physiological pregnancy will be treated from fertilization to delivery and puerperium. In the field of maternal-fetal medicine, the main medical pathologies that can complicate pregnancy will be treated, with particular attention to hypertension and diabetes. Infectious diseases and fetal growth disorders will also be treated. In the field of obstetric pathology, all pathologies related to pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum will be treated, with particular attention to preterm birth and obstetric emergencies.
