Course Objectives


THE MODULE, IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE TEACHING REGULATIONS IN ARTICLE N.3 "SPECIFIC TRAINING OBJECTIVES AND EXPECTED SKILLS", PROVIDES THE STUDENT WITH THE TOOLS NECESSARY TO IDENTIFY THE NURSING ASSISTANCE NEEDS OF THE INDIVIDUAL AND HIS FAMILY IN THE PEDIATRIC FIELD AND THE COMMUNITY, FROM WHICH THE MOST SUITABLE CARE PLANS CAN BE DEVELOPED, PAYING PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE PLANNING, MANAGEMENT AND EVALUATION OF PREVENTIVE, CURATIVE AND REHABILITATIVE INTERVENTIONS
EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
• KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND: AT THE END OF THE MODULE THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO KNOW THE RELATIONAL, COMMUNICATIVE, REGULATORY-ORGANIZATIONAL AND NURSING-CARE ASPECTS RELATING TO THE PEDIATRIC AREA, WITH PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE TREATMENT PROCESS AND THE PLAN OF NURSING, RESULTING FROM THE AVAILABLE EVIDENCE
• ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
IDENTIFY THE PECULIARITIES AND NEEDS OF PEDIATRIC NURSING ASSISTANCE IN THE DIFFERENT STAGES OF DEVELOPMENTAL AGE SUBJECTS
DESCRIBE THE METHODS AND TOOLS USED TO PROMOTE THE WELL-BEING OF THE HOSPITALIZED NEWBORN/CHILD/ADOLESCENT
DESCRIBE SOME METHODS OF HUMANIZING HOSPITAL CARE
DESCRIBE TYPICAL HEALTH PROBLEMS IN PEDIATRIC AGE.
DESCRIBE THE PEDIATRIC TRIAGE PROCESS, THE TOOLS THAT CAN BE USED FOR THE EARLY RECOGNITION OF CLINICAL WORSENING AND ITS MANAGEMENT IN CHILDREN
DESCRIBE THE TOOLS FOR DETECTION OF ACUTE AND CHRONIC PAIN, WHICH CAN BE USED IN PEDIATRICS AND THE METHODS OF PAIN MANAGEMENT
ILLUSTRATE THE PRINCIPLES OF PHARMACOLOGICAL THERAPY IN NEONATAL AND PEDIATRIC AGE
DESCRIBE THE CHARACTERISTICS AND METHODS FOR SAFE PHARMACOLOGICAL THERAPY FOR INFANTS AND CHILDREN

• INDEPENDENT JUDGMENTS:
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO MAKE HELP DECISIONS ON THE BASIS OF CAREFULLY IDENTIFICATION OF NEEDS, CRITICALLY ASSESSING THE OUTCOMES OF THE CHOICES MADE
• COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY WITH THE MEMBERS OF THE CARE TEAM, WITH THE CHILD IN THE VARIOUS DEVELOPMENTAL STAGES AND THE FAMILY
• ABILITY TO LEARN:
YOU WILL BE SKILLED IN SEEKING INFORMATION INDEPENDENTLY AND IN COLLABORATION, FOR THE RESOLUTION OF PROBLEMS RELATING TO CLINICAL PRACTICE, DRAWING INFORMATION FROM THE BEST SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE AVAILABLE, THROUGH THE CRITICAL SELECTION OF PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SOURCES

Course Prerequisites


UNDERSTANDING THE MODULE REQUIRES THE NECESSARY AND IN-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF THE NURSING PROCESS AND THE CARE PLAN; IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT THE STUDENT HAS TAKEN AND PASSED THE EXAMS PROVIDED IN THE STUDY PLAN OF THE FIRST YEAR OF THE COURSE

Teaching Methods


THE MODULE, WHICH ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY, INCLUDES LECTURES. THE TEACHER WILL ADOPT A TEACHING STYLE BASED ON THE PRESENTATION OF PROBLEMS PREFIGURING THE SITUATIONS OF PROFESSIONAL LIFE, SUCH AS TO STIMULATE STUDENTS' INTEREST IN THE COURSE TOPICS AND FOSTER THE APPLICATION OF KNOWLEDGE IN REAL CLINICAL CONTEXTS

Assessment Methods


Learning assessment is done through an oral exam. The evaluation is in thirtieths and the exam is considered passed if the evaluation is equal to or greater than eighteen thirtieths (18/30). In determining the order of the exam tests, the specific needs of working students will be taken into account in particular. The evaluation of insufficiency is not accompanied by a grade. The advertising of the exam tests is guaranteed. The following indicators and descriptors will be taken into consideration in the evaluation of the oral interview:
INDICATORS: relevance and correctness
DESCRIPTORS: Complete: 30, In-depth: 29 - 27, Fair with some gaps: 26 - 24, Completely sufficient: 23 - 21, Just sufficient with evident gaps: 20 - 18
INDICATORS: breadth and coherence
DESCRIPTORS: Rigorous and documented, highlighting the ability to use the knowledge acquired and connect it to the argument: 30, Precise and detailed: 29 - 27, Adequate: 26 - 24, Completely sufficient: 23 - 21, Just sufficient: 20 - 18
INDICATORS: Expressive correctness, ownership of scientific language, communication skills
DESCRIPTORS: Refined and original: 30, Clear, fluent and correct: 29 - 27 Fair: 26 - 24, Sufficient: 23 - 21, Insufficient: 20 - 18.
To pass the exam, a grade of at least 18/30 is required. To obtain a grade of 30/30 with honors, the student must demonstrate that he or she has acquired an excellent knowledge of all the topics covered during the course, being able to connect them in a logical and coherent way.
