Course Objectives


The module, in compliance with the provisions of the Teaching Regulations in article no. 3 "Specific training objectives and expected skills", aims to provide the student with the necessary tools for: identifying basic and specific nursing care needs in the medical field, developing the related care plans, with the identification of Nursing diagnoses and expected outcomes, and therapeutic education aimed at self-care in the medical field. EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES (LEARNING Outcomes): Knowledge and understanding: understanding the fields of intervention of nursing, the clinical method that guides an effective approach to care, the operational techniques of intervention and the evidence that guides decision-making in nursing clinics in the medical area. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding (Applying knowledge and understanding): integrate knowledge with nursing skills and attitudes to provide evidence-based care, use theoretical knowledge of nursing, biological, humanistic, behavioral, psychological and social sciences to identify the needs of the people assisted, respecting age, groups and communities; provide evidence-based nursing care to achieve health outcomes or a state of compensation; conduct a complete and systematic assessment of care needs, starting from the analysis and processing of collected data, evaluate the specific results of the care provided and those obtained in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team; plan. Autonomy of judgment (Making Judgements): make care decisions taking into account clinical and care priorities; decide on care interventions and personalize them on the basis of clinical, psychosocial and cultural variables; critically evaluate the results of care decisions made on the basis of the outcomes of the person assisted and the care standards; use the scientific approach in problem solving. Communication skills: Use relevant communication skills with clients, family and team members in appropriate verbal, non-verbal and written form Learning skills: Demonstrate ability in active learning and developing independent study skills; demonstrate ability and autonomy to critically select primary and secondary sources of evidence to guide the delivery of care; demonstrate ability to self-assess own skills and define own development and learning needs; demonstrate ability in collaborative learning and knowledge sharing within the work team.

Course Prerequisites


Knowledge of biomedical sciences for the understanding of physiological processes connected to the state of health and disease of the person; knowledge of the scientific methodology of Problem Solving and the Nursing Process for the planning of healthcare interventions aimed at managing the person with internal medicine pathologies. In order to access the exam, the student must have attended 70% of the lectures of the Integrated Course of Nursing Sciences in the Medical and Surgical Area and must have passed the exams of the first year of the course, as required by the study plan.

Teaching Methods


The module, which is mandatory, includes interactive lectures, with the help of computer-based teaching material in Power Point format. The teacher will adopt a teaching style based on the presentation of problems prefiguring situations in professional life, in order to stimulate students' interest in the course topics.

Assessment Methods


The learning assessment is based on an oral exam. The evaluation is in thirtieths, the exam is passed if the evaluation is equal to or greater than eighteen thirtieths (18/30). In determining the order in which students must be examined, the specific needs of working students will be taken into particular account. The evaluation of insufficiency is not accompanied by a grade. The publicity of the exam tests is ensured. For the evaluation of the oral interview, the following indicators and descriptors will be taken into account: INDICATORS: relevance and correctness DESCRIPTORS: Complete: 30, In-depth: 29 - 27, Fair although with some gaps: 26 - 24, Fully sufficient: 23 - 21, Just sufficient with evident deficiencies: 20 - 18 INDICATORS: breadth and coherence DESCRIPTORS: Rigorous and documented, highlighting the ability to use the knowledge acquired and connect it in the argument: 30, Precise and detailed: 29 - 27, Adequate: 26 - 24, Fully sufficient: 23 - 21, Just sufficient: 20 - 18 INDICATORS: Expressive correctness, use of scientific language, communication skills DESCRIPTORS: Refined and original: 30, Clear, fluent and correct: 29 -27, Fair: 26 - 24, Sufficient: 23 - 21, Not fully adequate: 20 -18. To pass the exam, a grade of at least 18/30 is required. To obtain a grade of 30/30 with honors, the student must demonstrate that he or she has acquired excellent knowledge of all the topics covered during the course, being able to connect them in a logical and coherent way.
