Syllabus

Course Objectives

Aim of the course is to provide the student with the basics informations needed for the comprehensive care of patients with solid neoplasms

Course Prerequisites

Basics of biology, human anatomy, biochemistry, pathology and physiology

Teaching Methods

Frontal teaching with the use of slides integrated by texts of each class

Assessment Methods

Written test (Multiple choice quizes)

Texts

Teaching materials (slides and text) will be available at the end of each class

Contents

The course will deal with the basics of oncology (mechanisms of cancerogenesis, hallmarks of cancer cells, mechanism of metastasis, etc), basics of epidemiology, principles of cancer prevention, classification of main drugs used in oncology (chemotherapics, hormonal agents, targeted agents, immunotherapy) with mechanisms of action and main side effects, main malignant solid neoplasms
