Course Objectives

The module, in compliance with the provisions of the Teaching Regulations, Article No. 3 "Specific Learning Objectives and Expected Skills", aims to provide students with the tools necessary to identify the healthcare needs in the pneumological, cardiological, and nephrological fields of the individual, the family, and the community. EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES: Knowledge and understanding: the student will be able to develop nursing diagnostic reasoning and care planning in relation to the diagnostic, therapeutic, and palliative pathways for health problems and disabilities covered in the clinical disciplines of the integrated course; identify nursing care needs in situations characterized by the presence of organic pathologies; establish personalized nursing care plans in reference to the nursing care needs in situations characterized by organic alteration; identify, for each nursing care need, the objectives to be achieved, specifying the priorities. Applying knowledge and understanding: Students will be able to develop a care plan through: assessment, description of the main manifestations of the disease (clinical signs and symptoms, laboratory and instrumental diagnostic data), formulation of objectives, and implementation of specific and appropriate interventions. Upon completion of the course, students must demonstrate mastery of a scientific method, operating with professionalism and competence. Making judgments: Students must be able to evaluate the appropriateness of specific interventions and then critically evaluate the results of their choices, enabling them to carry out professional actions under their own responsibility and autonomy upon completion of their studies. Communication skills: Students must demonstrate acquisition of adequate scientific terminology and the ability to clearly and comprehensively explain their knowledge and care choices to both specialist and non-specialist audiences, adapting their language to their understanding. Learning skills: the student will be able, independently and collaboratively, to periodically update themselves and to research information to solve problems encountered in clinical practice, identifying available evidence, critically selecting primary and secondary sources, drawing on texts, scientific articles, online platforms and databases

Course Prerequisites

To take the exam, students must demonstrate mastery of the nursing process and care planning. Students must also demonstrate basic knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the respiratory, cardiac, and nephrological systems, and the main pathologies related to them. To take the exam, students must have attended 70% of the lectures for the Integrated Course in Nursing Sciences in Specialized and Integrative Medicine and must have passed all first-year exams, as required by the study plan.

Teaching Methods

The module, which is mandatory, features interactive lectures, supported by computer-based teaching materials in PowerPoint format. The instructor will adopt a teaching style based on the presentation of problems that prefigure professional situations, thus stimulating student interest in the course topics.

Assessment Methods

Assessment is based on an oral exam. Grades are out of 30; the exam is considered passed if the score is equal to or higher than eighteen thirtieths (18/30). When determining the order in which students are examined, the specific needs of working students will be taken into account. A failing grade is not accompanied by a grade. Exam results are publicized. For the evaluation of the oral interview, the following indicators and descriptors will be taken into account: INDICATORS: relevance and correctness DESCRIPTORS: Complete: 30, In-depth: 29 - 27, Fair although with some gaps: 26 - 24, Fully sufficient: 23 - 21, Just sufficient with evident deficiencies: 20 - 18 INDICATORS: breadth and coherence DESCRIPTORS: Rigorous and documented, highlighting the ability to use the knowledge acquired and connect it in the argumentation: 30, Precise and detailed: 29 - 27, Adequate: 26 - 24, Fully sufficient: 23 - 21, Just sufficient: 20 - 18 INDICATORS: Expressive correctness, command of scientific language, communication ability DESCRIPTORS: Refined and original: 30, Clear, fluent and correct: 29 - 27, Fair: 26 - 24.
