Syllabus

Course Objectives


To provide the student with the basic knowledge for the anamnestic and diagnostic framework (low-tech and high-tech) of the ocular hypertensive or glaucoma patient undergoing medical therapy, or a candidate for or undergoing surgical treatment

Course Prerequisites


Knowledge of ocular anatomy and physiology, with particular attention to the hydrodynamics. Knowledge of morphological and functional diagnostic techniques for studying the optic pathways (OCT, OCTA, perimetry) and for the patient assessment (tonometry, pachymetry, gonioscopy).

Teaching Methods


Face-to-face lessons with mandatory attendance of 75% of the total hours.

Contents


To provide students with basic concepts of the epidemiology, physiopathology, clinical features, and diagnosis of the main clinical forms of glaucoma. Explaination ot the main surgical techniques for the control of glaucoma disease. Indications for various types of glaucoma surgery, timing and expected results, and pre- and post-operative management.
