Syllabus

Course Objectives

The aim of the course is to allow the student to acquire the fundamental knowledge related to the main theoretical and applicative aspects of Bioengineering. In particular: as a basic objective, it must include the basic notions concerning measurement, the nature of a biomedical signal, the properties of a signal, the acquisition and analysis of biomedical signals, the differences between analog and digital signal; as an advanced goal, it will have to understand the problems of A/D conversion and the main properties of the signal in the time and frequency domain. The student, after understanding the principles, will be able to apply them on examples and understand the effect. The student will be able to understand what happens in reality with independent judgment.

Lectures conducted with the aid of a computer connected to a projector.

Contents

Knowledge on the nature of biomedical signals.
The distinction between the different representations of a signal.
The distinction between the various types of biomedical signals.
Digital images and their treatment.
Basic knowledge of inertial sensors.
Basic knowledge of computer networks and communication protocols.
