Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course aims to provide adequate knowledge and characteristics of microorganisms, principles of pathogenicity and microbial epidemiology, host-parasite interactions, control of virus diseases, types and use of antimicrobial drugs. The laboratory practice is to master the techniques of isolation and characterization of microorganisms.

Course Prerequisites

To address the study and understand the topics covered in the course, knowledge of Animal Biology and Human Anatomy (structure and functions of the eukaryotic cell, basic concepts of molecular biology) will be required

Teaching Methods

Frontal lessons, classroom exercises, laboratory activities

Assessment Methods

Oral exam, with questions on several topics related to the program dealt with during lectures and exercises.

If foreign students are present, the oral exam will be held in English
