Syllabus

Course Objectives

The class aims to lead the students through a path that starts from cellular physiology (with the analytical study of the basic mechanisms of physiological processes) to arrive at cardio-vascular, respiratory and renal functions. The priorities are the analysis of membrane transport, potentials, knowledge of the functional dynamics of excitable tissues, of the biophysical laws that regulate the activity of nervous and muscle tissues with particular reference to the model represented by man, understanding functional integration and control systems through the knowledge of the cellular mechanisms underlying signal transduction; the study of reflex behavior and its implications in organ physiology. During the course, topics of applied research will also be explored, useful for the student to understand that Physiology is a substantially experimental science.

Insights.
During the course, lessons will be held with examples of measurements of physiological quantities. The study aims to acquire a greater degree of knowledge of some experimental aspects of Physiology. Ongoing checks will be carried out. These checks are useful to ascertain the degree of preparation of the student and plan any clarifications and insights to be carried out during the course in order to achieve the pre-established educational objectives.
