Course Objectives


Course aims to equip students with comprehensive knowledge and specialized skills concerning the key actors and dynamics within the financial system, with a particular emphasis on technological innovations and sustainability practices that are reshaping the financial sector.

The assessment of learning takes place through an oral examination aimed at evaluating the knowledge and skills acquired, in accordance with the course’s learning objectives.

Contents


The course begins with an overview of the role of financial intermediaries in a broad sense and other authorized operators within the national and European financial systems. Subsequently, the course focuses on ongoing innovative processes, analyzing the FinTech phenomenon and the most recent innovative practices in sustainable finance. In particular, it:

(i) Examines the operational strategies and business models adopted by financial intermediaries, with particular attention to the challenges posed by rapid technological, regulatory, and market changes.
(ii) Presents technological innovations and sustainability practices in the financial sector, with reference to FinTech taxonomy, the application of digital technologies in credit, compliance, and supervision processes, and innovations in financial products. (iii) Studies the concepts of sustainable finance, green technology, and ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) factors, with particular focus on specific instruments such as sustainable bonds, sustainable credit products, and other financial solutions aimed at environmental and social sustainability.
(iv) Highlights the importance of internal control mechanisms, risk management strategies, and crisis management measures to ensure the overall stability and resilience of the financial system.
