Course Objectives

The aim of the course will be to provide knowledge regarding the biological characteristics, pathogenicity and virulence, clinical manifestations and treatment of infections related to microorganisms of particular health interest. EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES: At the end of the lessons the student will have to: - have basic knowledge of the microorganisms addressed; - have knowledge relating to the methods of diagnosis and pharmacological treatment; - possess communication skills using an appropriate language to provide correct health education with a view to the treatment of infectious diseases associated with microorganisms of major interest in the medical field.

Teaching Methods

The teaching is structured in lectures according to the provisions of the teaching calendar. The lessons include a strong interactive component between Teachers and Students. Attendance is mandatory

Assessment Methods

The learning assessment is carried out with an oral exam. The student must demonstrate that he/she has acquired sufficient knowledge on: - structural and biological characteristics, pathogenicity and virulence of the microorganisms addressed; - clinical manifestations, methods of diagnosis and treatment of the infection. The assessment will be carried out by expressing a judgment of suitability.
