Course Objectives

This course contributes to the achievement of the educational objective of the Course of Study in Modern Languages for Management and International Cooperation making students familiarize with syntactical and lexical elements of specialized Chinese (mainly related to the political and business fields, but also, more generally, to the literary and cultural fields) and enabling them to understand and translate texts regarding different fields.

Course Prerequisites

Adequate lexical competence in Chinese in general.

Teaching Methods

Classes (60 hours); text translating and analysis, exercises aimed at comprehending and memorizing specialized lexicon. Related homework will be regularly assigned.

Assessment Methods

Final test. The written test, of the duration of two hours, consists in translating into Italian a Chinese text concerning one of the specialized fields studied during classes (use of both printed and electronic dictionaries is permitted). The oral part includes lexical and morpho-syntactic analysis of texts studied during the course. In order to be admitted to the oral examination, students must have passed the written one. For the purposes of the final result (i.e. grade) of the exam, the written and oral parts are of equal importance. The final result, which is determined the end of the oral exam, is expressed with a 30-point scale ranging from a passing grade of 18 to a maximum of 30 cum laude.
