Syllabus

Course Objectives


The aim of the first year is to reach an elementary level of Modern Standard Arabic, both written and spoken. By the end of the course, students will have a basic knowledge of Arabic phonetics and will be able to form simple sentences, read and write short texts, and translate short texts from Arabic into Italian and from Italian into Arabic.
The achievement of these objectives can be further supported by language tutorial sessions, designed as activities specifically focused on phonetic practice (which is essential in the first year of learning), the correct articulation of Arabic sounds, the development of basic vocabulary, and conversation and oral production activities.

Teaching Methods


The teaching methodology includes lectures, written and oral exercises carried out both in class and at home, the use of audio and video materials, and participation in seminars.

Language tutorial activities are strongly recommended, especially when designed as activities specifically focused on phonetic practice (which is essential in the first year), the correct articulation of Arabic sounds, the development of basic vocabulary, and conversation and oral production activities.

Assessment Methods


The final exam consists of a written test, including dictation and grammar exercises with translation from Italian into Arabic based on the rules studied, and an oral exam on the topics covered during the course.
