Syllabus

Course Objectives

Teaching will contribute to achievement of the learning objectives of the Degree Course in Literature, in accordance with the following coordinates:
• KNOWLEDGE and UNDERSTANDING: development of grammatical, syntactic and lexical skills; mastery of the fundamental outlines of the history of the Greek language;
• INDEPENDENCE OF JUDGEMENT: to translate a Greek literary text in an aware and independent manner; to acquire adequate autonomy of judgement in the analysis of ancient Greek texts and in their research, collection and organization.
• COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS: To acquire good skills in the expounding and communication of linguistic, grammatical and syntactic phenomena.

Course Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of Ancient Greek.

Teaching Methods

The fundamental teaching method will be frontal teaching; however, translation laboratories and simulations of the mid-course and end-of-course tests will also be provided.

Assessment Methods

Written exam preparatory to the oral. The written test includes:
• the translation of a Greek text of no particular complexity (with a maximum rating of 10/10);
• the answer to 16 questions on the morphology of the noun and verb (with a maximum score of 20/20, which comes from the score of 1.25 for each correct and complete answer)
The passing of the written test with at least 18/30 is a prerequisite for the oral examination; the overall final grade will be expressed in 30/30.
