Contents

The course aims to present children's and young adult literature as an open and pluralistic universe of communication, composed of multiple genres and subgenres, verbal and visual narrative forms, and contamination between different languages and media. The criticism of children's literature requires interdisciplinary hermeneutic tools that draw on literary, poetic and artistic research, pedagogical theories of development and the history of education. Starting from the theoretical, aesthetic and thematic revolution of the 1960s and 1970s, contemporary forms of writing for children and adolescents will be analysed, with particular attention to book mediation and reading education practices in school and non-school contexts. Particular attention will be paid to the analysis of the textual forms of illustrated books and graphic novels, understood as educational and didactic resources for upper secondary schools.
