Syllabus

Course Objectives


The class aims to develop a solid understanding of the History of Theology as an essential discipline for comprehending the historical and cultural dynamics that have shaped world history.
• Knowledge: By the end of the course, students should be able to critically analyze the theological developments that occurred throughout the 20th century.
• Independent judgment: Students should acquire sufficient skills to analyze the concept of Church reform over the long term and its more recent developments during the 20th century, thanks to certain key figures and events. They should also be able to independently propose reflections on fundamental historiographical issues related to the discipline.
• Communication skills: Students should be able to clearly present events and key issues in the history of theology in the 20th century using appropriate terminology.

Teaching Methods


The class includes lectures featuring critical reading of sources and the screening of audiovisual materials

Assessment Methods


Oral exam.
– The oral exam consists of questions asked by the examiner to the candidate.
– The candidate will be evaluated based on the quantity and accuracy of the knowledge expected to have been acquired, their ability to present it, and their capacity to critically examine the development of the issues discussed during the class.
– The assessment is expressed as a grade out of thirty.

• Students who intend to take the exam as attending students must prepare using the lecture notes and materials provided by the teacher; students wishing to take the exam as attending students must inform the teacher at the beginning of the course. It will not be possible to take the exam as an attending student — without exceptions — if this choice is not communicated to the teacher by the end of the second week of classes.
