Course Objectives

By the end of the module, students;1. - will have acquired a knowledge of the fundamental types of sources related to the topic of the course (knowledge);2. - will be able to identify and critically use written sources relating to the period and theme studied to carry out autonomous researches (Ability to apply knowledge and understanding);3. - will be able to evaluate and judge the sources analyzed during classes;4. - will have acquired the ability to present critically and with an appropriate lexicon the results of their research (Communication skills)

Course Prerequisites

A good knowledge of Medieval History is required.

Teaching Methods

Frontal lectures, seminars, readings and analysis of primary sources, discussions of texts. Students are expected to attend regularly classes; they should actively participate with questions and debates.

Assessment Methods

Knowledges and abilities will be verified through a question&answer oral exam.
Intermediate Tests on the topics covered may be agreed.
The competence will be judged appropriate (with a vote based on a 30 points scale) if the student:- will show to have clearly learnt the fundamental frames of the reference period- will show explaining ability and conscious use of the suitable lexicon;will demonstrate knowledge and ability to use the tools for historical research.will demonstrate knowledge and ability to use the tools for historical research relating to religious orders in the Middle Ages.
The grading scale ranges from 1 to 30 with honors (cum laude):1-17 fail18-21 sufficient22-24 fair25-27 good28-29 very good30-30 with honors (cum laude) excellent.
