Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course contributes to the general learning objectives of the CdS. The goal of the course is to train professionals with a solid understanding of the psychology of motivation and personality, capable of applying this knowledge in economic and organizational contexts.
In the detail, the course aims to develops the following areas:
- Knowledge and comprehension: the student will acquire a solid foundation in the fundamentals of personality and motivational processes, understanding the critical aspects of organizational behavior and group dynamics, applying the social identity approach, and delving into motivation, group decision-making, and conflict management processes.
- Application skills: the student will use observation techniques in professional practice, design data collections on human behavior, evaluate the reliability of the data, plan interventions in various contexts, and design evidence-based interventions to positively influence behaviors.
- Autonomy of judgment: the student will develop synthesis, abstraction, and critical thinking skills, constructing logical arguments, recognizing correct demonstrations, working autonomously, and critically evaluating theories of personality and motivation.
- Communication skills: the student will present scientific topics clearly and comprehensibly, present research topics rigorously, and illustrate the contribution of neuroscience to business, applying knowledge of personality and motivation to human resource management and organizational effectiveness.

Course Prerequisites

None.
The proposed program will allow students who have not previously acquired disciplinary knowledge to achieve the indicated educational objectives. There are therefore no prerequisites.

Teaching Methods

The course is articulated in 48 hours and lectures make use of slides. The course concern theoretical aspects of the discipline integrated by practical examples.

Assessment Methods

Colloquium. The exams will focus on material covered in the textbook and lectures throughout the course. Colloquium will be evaluated with a score between 0 and 30 (with possible honors). A score from 18 to 23 indicates a sufficient level of understanding, a score from 23 to 28 indicates a good level of understanding, a score from 28 to 30 indicates an excellent level of understanding, and a score of "with honors" indicates exceptional analytical and critical reasoning skills regarding the course topics.

Contents

The course aims to stimulate and guide the exploration of issues that may arise in the study of personality and motivation psychology, with a specific focus on applications in the economic and organizational fields.
The content is designed to promote reflection on various fundamental topics to understand how personality traits and motivational processes influence behavior within communities and organizations. Students will be encouraged to carefully consider and evaluate the practical implications of these dynamics to improve human resource management and organizational effectiveness, exploring strategies to apply this knowledge in professional practice to optimize individual performance and well-being.
