Syllabus

Course Objectives

Students will have to acquire the ability to understand how the functionality of a natural organ is studied and modeled and how to replicate this functionality in artificial models. He will also have to learn about the general functioning of some artificial organs.

Course Prerequisites

Good knowledge of physics, mathematical analysis, and physiology

Teaching Methods

Lectures with simulation-based exercises. Project Works assignment

Assessment Methods

Written test with open-ended questions and problem solving (25/30). Execution of a project work assigned by the teacher (5/30)

Tissue Engineering and Artificial Organs - The Biomedical Engineering Handbook - Joseph D. Bronzino, 3rd edition; Handouts provided by the teacher

Contents

The course will introduce students to the topic of modeling some physiological processes and some organs, both natural and artificial.
